Link Between DNA Variations And Brain Tumors
Mayo Clinic researchers and colleagues at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) have found a connection between DNA alterations on human chromosome 9 and aggressive brain cancer known as glioblastoma. The findings are reported in the current online issue of Nature Genetics.

Quality Of Care Delivery In Colorectal Cancer Improved By Educational Initiatives
A study of targeted educational initiatives between the clinical staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center and the hospitals within their Partners program suggest that educational interventions by academic cancer centers can improve quality of care for cancer patients at community hospitals. The study, to be presented at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, looked specifically at the number of lymph nodes that were surgically removed in colorectal cancer patients at Fox Chase"s partner hospitals and the impact that educational initiatives by clinical staff had on improving the number of nodes removed.

Early Screening Reduces Disparities For Prostate Cancer
Men who have a regular, ongoing relationship with a health care provider are more likely to receive prostate cancer screening and less likely to be diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer, regardless of their race, according to a University of North Carolina study published in the current issue of the journal Cancer.

Chair of the Association of Nursing Students (ANS) Naomi Baker has already started sending back daily reports from Durban, South Africa, where the 24th Quadrennial ICN Congress is being held. The ICN represents more then 130 national nursing associations, working together to promote the global advancement of nursing.
